I bought this Turbotax Basic Download anyway, despite the bad reviews. I read in some other reviews that Basic is all you need if you have a personal business and need a Schedule C, or itemize deductions. Turbotax tries to rip people off on an upsale to Deluxe and Home and Business. I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon. They have always made things right if something is wrong with a purchase. $22 was not too big a gamble for their track record with me. The download and install took all of three minutes. I run on Verizon Fios and have Vista on a machine that scores all 5.9s. I use Turbotax every year. It does a nice job. My taxes aren't real complicated, and I could do them manually, but I bet Turbotax pays for itself, no matter what I pay for it, mainly because there will be something I would have missed. Basic didn't complain about importing my Turbotax files from 2007, even though I used Deluxe last year, will never do that again. Its the nuttiest thing. The Basic software will try to upsell you when it sees that you need to itemize deductions. When you say no thanks, it does a perfect job of walking you through your itemized deductions. Then it will try to upsell you when you say you have your own small business. When you say no thanks, it will do everything you need to handle your small business, inventory, home office, autos and any other assets. This is a good deal.
