First off, I'm an IT professional. I handle computer system consulting for many customers. Lately, I've been doing work for a CPA firm who uses several versions of Lacerte, Quickbooks, and Peachtree Quantum. They also use Timeslips 2010. All of these programs are basically running simultaneously. They just got a new server with plenty of memory, a quad core zeon processor, and 3 new workstations, each with core 2 duo processors. There are 4 total workstations. The 4th workstation just got some upgrades such as a new, faster hard drive and memory. The server runs Windows Server 2008 and the workstations run Windows XP SP3.
All the other applications, such as Quickbooks, Lacerte, and Timeslips seem to be running just fine. They're using Peachtree 2008-2010. Most of their customers are in 2009 or being upgraded to 2010. But 2009 gets the most use. Both 2009 and 2010 run very very very very slow, i mean slllloooooooowwwwwwwww. We've called Peachtree tech support, followed their instructions, and it still runs slow. Called them again, had the trouble ticket escalated, and it still runs slow. Called them again, had their tech support log into all the machines and the server, they couldn't find anything wrong, and it still runs slow.
In the end, they say it "must be a network problem". They also suggested we uninstall our RAID card! For any IT tech out there, you know how big a deal it is to uninstall a RAID card. The RAID is supposed to be completely invisible to all software. Besides, why would Peachtree design software to run on a server, but not function on one with a RAID configuration? This is totally ridiculous. Also, remember all the other software runs fine, except for Peachtree.
I believe the problem lies with Peachtree. To me, it seems like their software is way too bloated and needs an overhaul. IF your going to install this on a network, I recommend you find something else to use until they get these bugs worked out. The time and money spent troubleshooting this software may not be worth it.Get more detail about Peachtree By Sage Complete Accounting 2010 Multi-User.
